Writer's picture: Environment ClubEnvironment Club

By Aparajita Vaid

You know what inspires me?

It’s the rain.

A Fragile water droplet

Falling on my forehead

Gently caressing down my cheek

Travelling across my neck

Shivers spreading through my chest

The thunderous winds

Ravenous noises, voices which

Take me to a higher space

Of raw, plane existence

Surrounded by falling trees

Broken twigs and dainty leaves

Telling me to write

To explore, to paint

The wonders that lay

Inside my mind

Of past memories

And persisting pain

Like the continuous flow of water

Of flushing rivers and stranded lakes

My thoughts and words must

Continually flow, rapidly, with energy

Rather they lay, static, unexplored

Like the yellowed leaf under the scorched creek

As the droplet reaches my legs

Circling its way to my feet

Giving me butterflies, like my first love did

Alas it took me back to love

Love, pain, separation

So much to write.
